Bootjak Production developers took on the ambitious task of writing, producing, and directing an indie film. Despite having a limited budget of less than $10,000, we were determined to bring our vision to life.
The result was a film that may not have garnered much attention at the box office, but it did receive critical acclaim. In fact, it was even entered into 25 film festivals and managed to win 5 awards. One of the challenges we faced was navigating the complicated QC (Quality Control) process required by Filmhub, a platform that would allow us to distribute our film.
With the help of their so called "6 easy step" process, we were able to successfully complete the QC and get our film on four different platforms. This achievement is especially noteworthy considering the fact that none of our developers had any previous experience in the film industry.
When you take into account the fact that only 2% of indie films actually get completed and placed on platforms like Amazon Prime, our accomplishment becomes even more significant. The entire process of film production is comprised of six key phases: development, pre-production, production, post-production, pre-distribution and distribution. Many films stumble and fail to progress past the development and pre-production stages.
However, our team of nerdy developers managed to overcome these obstacles and successfully write, cast, film, and edit a feature-length 90-minute movie. The purpose behind our film was multi-faceted. Not only did we aim to express ourselves artistically, but we also had hopes of making some money and using the film as a stepping stone to secure funding for future projects.
Ultimately, our goal was to complete the entire process and implement innovative changes to benefit filmmakers in the future. Despite the challenges we faced, we are proud of the outcome and the recognition we received at film festivals. Our determination and hard work serve as a testament to the resilience of indie filmmakers and the power of passion-driven projects.
